Reflection
I really enjoyed this project. It made me realize that everything I make is influenced by my surroundings. |

What inspires me to make art? That's a loaded question. A lot of things. If you made it on my fridge or wall, then you're most likely someone or something that has had an influence on my art. People who I adore. Or hold in my heart. My Childhood Fantasies of clouds. I really thought they were tangible at one point. My favorite poet. Man-made disasters. The kids I work with. Things that are currently going on around me. Wanting to save the world. My wandering thoughts that fill up the endless number of sketchbooks. Being an oncology nurse. My emotions. My Grandpa. My origin. My teachers. The things I grew up with, like the Swingline stapler or MC Hammer. Books. My obsession with things like the Brownie Camera or the V-Dubs. The use of play on words, like Gatorade or Chatterbox. My hobbies. Glazes. That smidgen part of me that secretly wants to publish a children's book...guess it's not really a secret anymore. So these are just a few things that inspire me to do what I do. |
Video Game
Reflection
I never would have thought I'd make a video game in my life. This video game was one of the most frustrating and time consuming projects I've ever done. In the beginning it took me about five hours to figure out how to get Koo Koo to get into the boat. I resorted to every online forum I could find, looked at all the notes posted on the class website, asked my classmates, and reached out to old friends who were in the gaming business. In the end I figured it out on my own. I still feel that it's not finished. I would still like to add more comment bubbles and instructions in each level. The drawings and characters in this video game was in collaboration with an artist and dear friend of mine, Jesse McCann. A big thank you to him for drawing all the cool characters and scenes. This video game would be completely different if it weren't for him. |
